Short Note To David Brooks

I just fired off an email to David Brooks at the NY Times:

"Our government couldn't even come up with a plan for postwar Iraq — thank goodness, too, because any "plan" hatched by technocrats in Washington would have been unfit for Iraqi reality."

That is one of the stupidest things I have ever read in the New York Times. We had a plan - it just wasn't used for ideological purposes. Commentary like yours is disingenuous and borders on propaganda - a difference of opinion is one thing, but you are misrepresenting facts. Why don't you do a little research while working on your retraction? Start with this article from The New Yorker http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?031124fa_fact1 and then look up Tom Warrick at the State Department. Also try the testimony from February 2003 of General Shinsheki to the Senate about the amount of troops needed to secure Iraq. I am sure you have other tools for research available to you through the Times.
Good luck.
